RIDGEWOOD, QUEENS — Four local Nepalese children are turning a traditional summer lemonade stand into a meaningful effort to support education for children in developing countries.

The lemonade sale was organized by Dequenza Shakya Chaudhari, age 11; Aryan Singh Ghimire, age 12; Zavian Shakya Chaudhari, age 8; and Dev Singh Ghimire, age 7. The young organizers announced that they will donate 30% of the proceeds from their lemonade sales to Bold Action for Social Education (BASE) International Inc.

BASE International is a charitable organization dedicated to expanding educational opportunities and empowering underserved children and communities, including those in countries such as Nepal, India, and Bangladesh.

“We want to help children who do not have the same educational opportunities that we have,” the young organizers said. “By selling lemonade, we can raise money and help more children go to school and build a better future.”

The children plan to operate their lemonade stand throughout the summer. It will be open in Ridgewood every Saturday from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. through the end of August 2026.

This youth-led initiative demonstrates that children are never too young to make a difference. Through their teamwork, compassion, and dedication, Dequenza, Aryan, Zavian, and Dev are encouraging the Ridgewood community to enjoy a refreshing cup of lemonade while supporting a worthy cause.

Community members are warmly invited to visit the lemonade stand, encourage these young changemakers, and help support educational opportunities for children in need.
