Monroe University Hosts Meet & Greet with Education Consultants in Makwanpur

Hetauda –  Monroe University, in association with the Nepal Educational Consultancy Association (ECAN), Makwanpur Chapter, organized a Meet & Greet and Information Sharing Session with education consultants at Hotel Samana, Hetauda. More than 31 representatives from the education consultancy sector participated in the program.

The program was chaired by ECAN Makwanpur Vice President Mr. Dipendra Shrestha, who delivered the closing remarks and expressed his appreciation to Monroe University for organizing the informative and engaging session. He highlighted the importance of stronger collaboration between international universities and education consultants, particularly at a time when the education consultancy sector is experiencing rapid changes and increasing challenges.

Mr. Shrestha emphasized that access to accurate, updated, and reliable information is essential for consultants to provide responsible guidance to students and parents. He noted that direct engagement with universities helps consultants better understand academic programs, scholarships, admission requirements, visa procedures, and compliance matters. He also encouraged ECAN members to focus on quality counseling, professional standards, and genuine international education opportunities.

Ms. Shruti Amatya, Director of Asia SEVIS Compliance/DSO at Monroe University, served as the Chief Guest and delivered a comprehensive presentation on Monroe University and the evolving U.S. international education landscape.

Ms. Amatya provided detailed information about Monroe University’s history, academic programs, campuses, student support services, scholarships, admission opportunities, and benefits for international students. She also highlighted the university’s approach to supporting international students throughout their academic journey and discussed the role of education partners in connecting qualified students with appropriate academic opportunities.

She further briefed participants on recent developments in U.S. immigration policies, visa and compliance requirements, SEVIS-related matters, and changes affecting international students and education consultants. She emphasized the importance of accurate documentation, compliance, ethical counseling, and proper communication between students, consultants, and institutions.

Ms. Amatya also highlighted recent changes in DHA rules and immigration-related requirements, encouraging consultants to remain updated with regulatory developments and provide students with information based on official and reliable sources. The session also provided an opportunity for consultants to interact directly with Monroe University and clarify their queries regarding admissions, scholarships, student eligibility, compliance, and partnership opportunities.

Mr. Ananta Raj Ghimire and Mr. Sanjeev Pandey, Central Executive Members of ECAN, attended the program as Special Guests. Addressing the gathering, they emphasized the importance of creating more platforms where ECAN members can directly interact with international universities and obtain first-hand information.

Mr. Ananta Raj Ghimire highlighted that the international education sector is becoming increasingly competitive and information-driven. He stressed that consultants must continuously update their knowledge about university programs, changing visa policies, compliance requirements, and emerging destinations to provide students with professional and responsible guidance.

He further emphasized that strong partnerships between universities and education consultants should be based on transparency, regular communication, accurate information sharing, and mutual trust. He encouraged ECAN members to utilize such information-sharing sessions to understand institutions more closely and identify suitable opportunities for Nepali students.

Similarly, Mr. Sanjeev Pandey highlighted the importance of networking and collaboration within the international education sector. He noted that direct engagement with university representatives enables consultants to understand institutional expectations, admission processes, scholarship opportunities, and student support systems more effectively.

Mr. Pandey also encouraged ECAN members to strengthen professional collaboration with credible international institutions while maintaining the highest standards of ethics and student service. He expressed the view that partnerships built around quality education and student welfare can create long-term benefits for students, consultants, universities, and the broader education sector.

The session was hosted by Mr. Manish Adhikari, Secretary of ECAN Makwanpur, who efficiently coordinated the proceedings and ensured the smooth execution of the program.
