The Nepal Scotland Association has publicly announced the list of films selected to participate in the Nepal Indigenous Film Festival 2025

The Nepal Scotland Association has publicly announced the list of films selected to participate in the Nepal Indigenous Film Festival 2025, which is scheduled to be held in Edinburgh, Scotland, on July 19, 2025.

A total of 41 films will be showcased at the festival, including 15 short films, 5 documentaries, 13 indigenous nationalities films, and 8 mainstream films inspired by indigenous stories. These were selected from a total of 60 applications.

Awards will be given in the categories of Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Script, Best Director, Best Cinematographer, Best Editor, Best Debut Director, and Best Debut Actor/Actress.
On July 19, the festival will screen Anjila, Lakhe Aaju, Karsang, Mukhiya, and several short films. The event will also include indigenous cuisine, traditional attire showcases, exhibitions, interactive sessions, cultural performances, an honors segment, and an awards ceremony, according to Festival Director Mr. Arun Kumar Pradhan.
All preparations in Scotland have been completed, and the chief guest of the event will be His Excellency Mr. Chandra Kumar Ghimire, the Ambassador of Nepal to the UK, as informed by Mr. Bijay Dangol, President of the Nepal Scotland Association.

Mr. Subash Thapa, coordinator of the event’s management committee, confirmed that preparations for welcoming and honoring the guest artists, and all other event-related arrangements, have been completed.
This is the first time the festival is being held in the UK. The main organizer is the Nepal Scotland Association, while the Nepal side is represented by the Film Directors’ Guild of Nepal and the Federation of Nepali Filmmakers , Province 1( Koshi Province). Mr. Janakdeep Parajuli, President of the Film Directors’ Guild of Nepal, confirmed that preparations in Nepal have also been completed.
